He wrote, "This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” and shared images of the pair in costume, and he continued, “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

In "Zelda" video games, Link is usually the main character, who gets out to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon, though in some instances gamers have played as Princess Zelda.

Who Are Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth?

Bo Bragason as Zelda

Rising star Bo Bragason is most recognized for her captivating role in the Disney+ series Renegade Nell. Her casting as Zelda, a character synonymous with wisdom, grace, and strength—has sparked intrigue. Because of her acting, she positions herself as a promising fit for the princess of Hyrule.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link

Ainsworth's previous role was as Miles Wingrave on Netflix's "The Haunting of Bly Manor." In addition to that, in Disney's 2022 live-action version of "Pinocchio," he voiced Pinocchio opposite Tom Hanks. Meanwhile, he also played roles in shows like the Disney+ series "Renegade Nell" and the British drama "The Jetty."

Fan and Expert Reactions

This electrifying news reveal has set social media ablaze, with fans buzzing with unmaintainable excitement and curiosity! Comments like “Bo and Benjamin could be perfect can’t wait to see them in action!” capture the wild enthusiasm sweeping across social media.

Some industry experts had suggested other popular names in place of these lesser-known actors in comparison; particularly, "Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer was suggested to play Zelda.

However, adapting a silent actor like Link and a multifaceted character like Zelda represents unique challenges. Let's see how Bragason and Ainsworth's rising talents rise to the occasion.
